Benefits of Gardening

Gardening is a very popular hobby because almost anybody can practice it and it brings so many benefits. Gardening is suited for all the people, no matter how young or old they are, how healthy or weak, or even with forms of disability. There can be found a gardening type for anyone, depending on the need. Healthy, strong people can practice any aspect of gardening and enjoy every part of it, but not everybody has the strength and health to build a new garden, for example or do landscaping or any strenuous gardening task. There are, however, much easier tasks that can be accomplished and enjoyed by the less fortunate ones, just as well. They can do the weeding and pruning, for instance, which is just as enjoyable and benefit bringing as the other harder activities.

The first benefit that comes into mind in relation to gardening is the exercise. There are different exercise levels which can be done while gardening, comprising easy going, light ones just as well as strenuous, vigorous others. The difficulty level and type of exercises depend on the age. No wonder that when retiring many people take up gardening to pass their spare time. Part of the reason is the more spare time retirees have, but also the possibility to keep the joints supple by practicing gentle, regular exercise. However, some elderly gardeners can have difficulties even with very simple tasks, like the remove of weed if it requires bending over. For gardeners having such difficulties there are various garden implements specially designed to help in such situations and to reduce the effort. For example, there are gardening tools with long handles which don’t require bending when using them. There are also some small platforms which permit a kneeling or seated position by the means of some tall poles attached to the platform.
